Are YOU Prepared for the Next Blackout?
The question is not whether there will be a blackout in your area, but when. Until recently, most of us in Canada felt pretty confident that the power will be there when we need it, and for the most part, it is. However, our electrical system is not infallible. Whether due to a downed power line from a car accident down the street, a major storm like the Quebec ice storm, or a vulnerability in the electrical supply system such as we saw in Ontario in the summer of 2003, it is likely that you will experience some kind of power outage in the future.
Whether a short power disruption or a long one, planning ahead will make all the difference if it happens to you. We have compiled a list of links to some excellent checklists and other resources on how to prepare for power outages and other emergencies (click here to view our section on emergency planning resources).
