How does it work?
The Sentinel ties into a sub-breaker panel that houses the circuits for your essential loads. During normal operation these loads are fed directly from the grid and the Sentinel siphons off small amounts of power to keep its batteries topped up. In a blackout the Sentinel will automatically start powering the loads connected to it using energy stored in its bank of batteries.
If a renewable energy source such as a solar array or wind turbine is deployed, the Sentinel acts as a hub tying the source into the building as well as the grid. Every Sentinel shipped is solar ready, and all it takes to deploy a grid tied array is to plug the panels into the appropriate terminals in the Sentinel and to get a net meter from your electrical company.
